MEET JAMES

James Skoufis isn’t a d.c. insider

He doesn’t come from machine politics. He's the outsider in this race. Yet, over the course of 12 years representing tough Republican districts in the Hudson Valley, he has always won by outworking, out-raising, out-messaging, and out-organizing them.

James is the son of an immigrant, was born in public housing, and grew up in a working-class, union household. As a young father, he knows the real strain American families are facing. He understands what living paycheck to paycheck is like, and that many voters feel the American Dream is out of reach – and feel disillusioned with the Democratic Party’s ability to help them achieve it.

At a time when hard-working women and men across this country just want a fair shake, a government that invests in their families and keeps them safe, and the chance to build their own prosperity, we’ve got to rededicate to a populist message. We have to stop communicating in academic, unrelatable language and start talking in real, person-to-person terms. James has stood up to big pharma and utility companies, taken on corporate welfare, fought corruption, and put more money back in the pockets of middle-class families. He knows how to win, how to communicate in tough settings, and how to take the fight to the opposition. It's why he's undefeated in his eight elections and it's the attitude he brings to the race for DNC Chair.

James skoufis knows how to win

James Skoufis was recently re-elected to a fourth term in the New York State Senate. He’s a common-sense Democrat who has consistently outperformed the top of the ticket since 2012, with strong victories in his red district that Trump won three times over. In 2022, he over-performed the top-of-the-ticket Governor's race by 13 points. This year, he once again swept his district, running 24 points ahead of the top of the ticket.

Skoufis got his start in local politics in his early twenties and served three terms in the New York State Assembly before serving another three terms in the State Senate. James represents a new generation of Democratic leadership, one that is fiercely populist and real, deeply committed to the Democratic values we hold dear, and knows the importance of showing up – no matter where.
